It has begun

Doesn't Alanna look like she's having fun?
I was sick this weekend, I tried to stay away so I didn't get any of you sick. I am feeling better today so I decided to venture out.
I went to Craft 2000 today. * Thanks Lindsey for the link to craft 2000* In case you don't know, Craft 2000 is a HUGE craft store in Michigan for people who are crafty and like to do things themselves. I am not one of them, but my mom is. She seems to think that we can make my own bouquet of flowers for me and my girls for less money than a florist can. This is all fine by me, but I am not a creative person, I tend to rely on others for this. So this is where my mom comes in. I put pics here for everyone to see. Check them out and let me know what you think. I took pics of some flowers that I like because I want to use spring like wild flowers for my wedding. A lot of "fall" colors were out so we did the best we could. The workers at the store told us to check it out in November, that is when they get all the spring stuff in. These are just ideas. I also added to ideas for the cake. My 2 best blogging buddies Lindsay and Lindsey are my internet bridesmaids, so you two better give input.

So I run into my 1st wedding dilemma. My older brother Todd is one of my favorite people in the world. He tells it like it is and is always there for me. I have went through a lot with him and he doesn't judge. He just got married for the 1st time 1 1/2 years ago on New Years Eve. It was so pretty and he married a wonderful girl Brenda, that I love dearly. Well my brother had to pay for most if not all of his wedding and told me that he would like to help me out with my wedding because he is in the position too and both my parents and Chris's parents really aren't in that type of position. I greatly appreciate the offer because we all know that weddings can be expensive. I'm not a fancy person, but I would like my wedding to be my day and perfect. So here comes the problem. I want a small wedding and a huge reception after, you know just family at the wedding and then EVERYONE at the reception. With the small wedding comes a small wedding party. I want my best friend Sarah, my step sister Chrissy and I was going to ask Brenda. Chris is having all 3 of his brothers. Well my brother asked if he could be in the wedding too. I would love to have my brother in the wedding, but I also have another brother Kyle and it would be hard not to include him if I am including everybody else's brother. You know what I mean. Chris and I would love to have everyone of our families in the wedding party, however we both agree that we would like to keep it small. Already we are pushing our limit with 3 people on both sides, but Chris really can't choose between his brothers on his side, and lucky me I am only really close with my step sister for the family aspect and my friend Sarah. I asked my sister in law because I needed another girl. This kinda does leave my older brother out, but if Chris had any sisters, I would ask them instead, but he does not. 4 boys. Thats what I have to work with. I know this is my wedding, but I don;t want to hurt anyone's feelings. I told my brother that I would have to talk to Chris 1st. I'm sure Todd wouldn't take back his offer to help out, at least I would like to think he wouldn't, but hey you never know. I am afraid to tell Todd that at this point, I don't think its gonna work to have him in the wedding. I feel really bad, because Hannah and I both were in his wedding, but Chris was not and Chris understood. I'm gonna have to tell him soon, any suggestions to let him down gently. I mean I love my brother, but its just not gonna work, maybe the next one. just kidding :)

  1. Hey...
what if you asked your brothers to be the ushers and to also maybe read a poem or scripture at the ceremony? I did the poem with a cousin that I did not have room for in the wedding "party".. It would be easy and special for them! (my brothers were ushers!)
I looked at your flickr pics... i think your girls are sooo freakin' cute!

  2. I agree with Lindsay. ASk him to be part of the wedding OTHER than standing up for you. Being an usher and then reading a passage from the bible or something he wrote would be very meaningful.

  3. I agree too! Ushers are a great way to include brothers in the wedding and wedding party activities -- and it does not require you to have additional bridesmaids. Perfect solution! We also had family do readings. I am surprised he asked to be in the wedding :) Men!

    The pics are super cute!

  4. I agree too! Ushers are a great way to include brothers in the wedding party while not being required to add bridesmaids. Congrats on your upcoming wedding.
