The Mr. Men Show

With the girls being 5 1/2 years apart, its starting to be difficult finding TV shows that they both are entertained in. Its seems Hannah is growing out of the cartoon phase and Alanna is just starting to enjoy it. Hannah Montana and Drake and Josh are a little to old for Alanna and Dora and Diego are a little to young for Hannah. We are constantly trying to get each girl to share the family TV and to show appreciation for each persons likings.

Then I was asked to review this show on Cartoon Network. Its called The Mr. Men Show. The show is based on the Mr Men and Little Miss books by Roger Hargreaves, which was originally published in the early 1970’s.

The Mr. Men show is nice for Hannah because it is a humorous reflection of the kinds of social and emotional issues children are facing and working out for themselves. Its appealing to Alanna because of the fun characters and its a cartoon. The show is good for Chris and I because the show depicts a range of very real emotions and character traits and offers a rich context for parents/kids to use as a reference point when dealing with feelings in their day-to-day lives. Humor offers a fresh way into issues critical to children’s social and emotional growth.
I know a show for the whole family to really get into. Could this be real?.

The Mr. Men Show began airing on Monday February 4th and airs each weekday at 9am Eastern and Pacific. Additional airings include Monday - Friday 1:30pm e/p and Saturday at 6:00am e/p.

Here are a few clips to check out. The first is about introducing the show, and the second is about square dancing. I played them for the girls and they instantly were still, quiet and entertained. The Mr Men show has become a fast favorite in this household.
