Again

I haven't written much about whats been going on lately, because I'm still trying to deal with it.

It was a normal Tuesday.  I picked Alanna up from school because she had a dr appt.  I went grocery shopping and planned on treating the two little ones to lunch.  While waiting in the dr office, Chris called.  It didn't seem out of sorts, so I answered thinking nothing of it.  The first thing out of his mouth was he got laid off.  I thought he was kidding and told him he wasn't funny.  I'm not joking he said.  I laughed and shrugged it off and started blabbing about my day.  He interrupted me and told me he was not kidding, that he just lost his job.

I can't go through this again came to mind.  After the drs, there was no taking the kids to McDonalds.  We now had to watch every penny spent.

After a week or so we were running out of food.  We called the DHS office and asked for help, but they said out application was still pending.  They sent us to the Salvation army.  I was grateful for 3 things that day.
1.  They were helping us with food
2.  That the girls were in school and didnt't see what we seen
3.  That Ben is to little to remember this time

The Salvation Army helps ALOT.  They gave us bags of groceries.  It got us through another week or so.  But what I didn't know was that th Salvation Army has bread, beagels, buns, and cake mix everyday to give out to people.  No questions asked.  When leaving the office we almost ran into a man crouching on the ground with handfuls of food in his mouth. He was so hungry he couldn't wait...It was so sad and haunting.  Right there I wanted to give the food we just received to this man, because he was in worse shape than we were.

More to come...
