hives

Yesterday around 3:30 the babysitter called me at work to tell me that when Alanna woke up she had a red rash on her stomach, and wanted to let me know she would watch it until I got home. By the time I got home a couple of hours later the rash had spread to the Alanna's back, face, arms and legs. I called her doctor, who is normally really great, but the girl said she could get us in next Wednesday. There was no way I was waiting until next Wednesday, so Chris and I took Alanna to an urgent care near by. Alanna was diagnosed with hives. The Dr said it was something she ate. I have no idea what she could have eaten in the last 24 hours that was any different from any other day. We called the babysitter and she told us everything Alanna ate and she has had all the food SEVERAL times before. The Dr gave Alanna some medicine and we left. When she woke up this morning all the hives were gone.
She gave us a big scare, I'm just so happy she is okay. Now we have to monitor everything Alanna eats to make sure she doesn't break out again.

  1. Bless her heart!! Maybe it was an allergy to a laundry detergent or something rather than what she ate? Just a thought...

  4. Elliot had hives once too, very scary. It could also be the way a combination of foods affect her, even if she can eat those same foods separately, if that makes sense..
