The Mess Free Pet

Having 3 kids and a husband and a cat has our house a little loud and crazy at times. The TV seems to be a constant buzz in the background as is Hannah playing, Alanna singing and Ben giggling. Quiet moments are rare, and usually while everyone is sleeping, including me.
Chris and the kids are always asking for more. They want more pets. Alanna wants fish, Chris and Hannah want a dog, and Ben would probably be happy with a dog too. I on the other hand DO NOT want more pets right now. Its not that I am not a pet lover, because I am, but I am a busy mom and just don;t have the time to dedicate to an animal right now. I would be the walker, the lover, the trainer and the pooper scooper.

When I got the opportunity to review the new Zhu Zhu pets, I was VERY excited. A pet hamster to please the girls with none of the responsibility. The package was waiting for us when we got back from "Up North" and the girls COULD NOT wait for me to put together the new Hamster City.

The hamsters come with names and Hannah chose Mr. Squibbles, light brown cute as a button (top), Alanna chose Chunk, who has wide cheeks and a big belly (white, 3rd down). These cute little pets have such a realistic look that one day I caught myself laying on the couch holding one, and petting him like he was real. The 2 hamsters came with a hamster ball and when placed in the ball it looks like a real hamster rolling across the floor. Our cat Abby doesn't seem to like them too much, but Ben and the girls had a blast chasing the ball through the kitchen.

The girls have played with their new pets everyday and soon we will be adding the clothes and sleeping beds to our Hamster City. Zhu Zhu Pets are certainly a pet we love to have in our house, and makes for a happy mommy with the no mess play area.
Now what would a FUN review like mess free pets be without sharing with YOU! I have a Hamster and the ramp with Slide to give to you. Heres what you have to do.

  1. One of my favorite pet memories is when my son crawls up to the doggie gate, stands up and laughs hysterically as the dogs lick his fingers and toes =)

When I grew up we had a pet rat! UGH! At the time we loved it. Now it think it sounds awful. I remember setting up mazes for that rat and letting it run through our Barbie house. What a flexible, fun Mom I had!

  4. Well, I have enough REAL pets not to need this...and trust me, you don't want a puppy. FULL TIME JOB! Cute when they are someone else's! ha!

  5. My favorite memory was when my dad bought me a puppy and instead of telling me, he let the puppy into my room while I was sleeping. I woke up finding the cutest puppy ever licking my face.

  7. I had all sorts of pets growing up. Rabbits, chickens, dogs, rats, snakes, hamsters you name it, we had it. My brothers and sisters were WWF (wrestling fans) so we named our hamsters: Bear Hug, Ultimate Warrior and Hulk. We created champion belts for each hamster and homemade mazes for them to explore.

My favorite pet memory will be my sons trying to move our big cat off the couch. First they tried asking, then yelling, them they tried to pick him up. No luck, the cat just sits there.

  10. My favorite pet memory is my wedding reception. Our centerpieces were Beta Fish, it was a huge hit. In fact so many people wanted to take one home, I almost didn't have one left to keep for myself. He lived for over a year. :)

  11. I am not really a pet person. My allergies are horrible around animals. This is the perfect pet for my family!!

My kids have wanted a rabbit for a very long time. This past Easter, the Easter Bunny kindly gave them 2 rabbits because Mommy said no. Seeing the excitement (and watching them care for the "gift" from the Easter Bunny) is one of my favorite pet memories.
