Guest Post

Hannah wanted to say a few things, so I let her guest post. Don't worry I monitor everything...even her email. Enjoy the mind of an 8 year old. I edited it a little to make sense like with commas and periods, but everything else is her..

Hey it is me Hannah, I think all you guys like my video and thank you for commenting on my video. The only thing I hate about the song is there is a bad word in it and that is NOT good for me to hear BAD WORDS. BAD WORDS are BAD for kids like me and my friend, her name is Chloe, she is my best friend. If you would like to email me, its hadeybre@gmail.com

Bye.

A case of the giggles

Being home with Alanna has been some of the best times lately. She is at that age where she is so darn funny and can make me laugh without really trying. She has been talking up a storm lately and coming up with the funniest lines. I have no idea where she is getting this stuff. Just last night, when I was putting her to bed, she asked where Hannah was. I told her Hannah was outside playing and Alanna announced she missed her. It was so sweet.
Today Lindsey came over for a little bit and at lunch Alanna got a small, okay huge case of the sillys and would not stop. Even though she is cute as can be, it was time to calm down for nap time. I was trying to change her diaper and get her ready and she kept kicking her feet and rolling over...being a typical 2 year old I guess. I had to get a little stern with her and asked her if she wanted to play in her pool after her nap...I expected her to say yes and I was then going to say, okay you can if you calm down and take a good nap...Instead of that nice thought out conversation, Alanna said "no swimming"...I looked at her shocked, but did not want to let her in on that...I said fine well you won't go swimming then, and just sat there with this blank look on my face. Eventually her sad brown eyes got to me and I started laughing..Not what I had planned. This gave Alanna permission to laugh and then Hannah started and we ended with Lindsey giving in laughing too. Not a great way to try to calm your 2 year old, but at that moment I must admit she outwitted me and won that one....I am ashamed. LOL.

Toddler Tails

Toddler Tails is a post you do on Tuesdays to talk about the crazy and wonderful things your toddler does. It was started by Lindsay and you can find her here, along with more Toddler Tails.

Alanna's vocabulary has been expanding daily. She comes up with new words on her own and uses them in the correct way. We are always so proud of her. One of her new sentences its "its all done raining" due to the Michigan weather and the 5 days straight worth of storms that have passed through. She is just the most adorable thing ever when she knows what she wants to say and tries her hardest to pronounce it correctly. However Alanna has also picked up a new word that we aren't to excited about, and boy does she know how to use it. "Shit"

We have tried to teach her that the word is a not so nice word, but its hard when it seems to be one of mommy's favorite words to use..(I know). We have tried giving her an alternative phrase such as "oh my gosh" and it seems to be working okay. Except on the days she needs to have reassurance that she says "Oh My Gosh" instead of shit.

Like today at lunch she looks at Chris and says, Lala no say Shit, Lala says Oh my gosh, and then shoves a piece of food in her mouth...Now how can you be angry at such sweetness?

couch digger

this winter we have had a very cold and snowy one. This is not abnormal, but it was above average for the snow fall. The entire family has been cooped up way to long. The last couple of days the sun has been shining, but still a little cold.
The winter has been especially hard on Hannah who misses her friends and can only do so much in the house. She has been very excited about the sun and cannot stop talking about going to the beach while in Florida.
I found Hannah digging in the couch the other day and asked her what she was doing. She said she was looking for money, so when spring gets here, she will have money saved up for the ice cream man. I guess she is ready for the winter to leave us too.

Guess she's not ready

Conversation Hannah and I had in the car Friday afternoon.

H: Mom is the easter bunny a bunny or someone dressed up..(points out the window at a phony easter bunny advertising for a car wash and yells) LOOOOOK MOOOOOM the EASTER BUNNY, I knew it was someone dressed up. Who dresses in the bunny costume?

Me: Ummm, maybe Santa. Maybe he likes to have 2 holidays

H: (thinks a minute) No I don't think its Santa, who else?

Me: Ummm maybe the Tooth Fairy.

H: (thinks some more) No not the tooth fairy, maybe the neighbor.

Me: Um, not sure about the neighbor, but are you ready for the truth?

H: Yeah, whats that?

Me: There really is no easter bunny, its just a made up creature that forces moms and dads to but unreasonable priced gifts and candy for their children that really don't need nothing more...

H: (looks at me for a reall long time, quietly...then tears form in the corner of her innocent eyes)

Me: SIKE, JUST KIDDING, I AM A LOSER MOM AND I WAS JUST PULLING YOUR LEG! You silly girl you actually thought I was for real...of course there is an Easter Bunny and no one could ever take that away! (stupid, stupid, stupid)

H: MOM THATS NOT FUNNY, you are so mean...I am not talking to you for 10 whole mintues

How long you think she would not talk if I told her about Santa?
