Buying stock in the pink stuff

Lately I have read about a mom complaining about a sick child at least once a week. How they never sleep, and cry and whine, and good lord take this child away before I melt down. I would always think to myself, poor baby, and sort of giggle because that has never really happened to me. Yes the kids get sick, but they sleep, "lots" when they are sick. And they cry, yes, but very "minimal". Until last night...

Ben went to sleep his usual time, 7:30-8:00. Then he woke up at 11:00 screaming. He cried until 12:00. I rocked, fed, played, changed his diaper, nothing helped. He screamed until he passed back out in my arms. Then he woke again at 1:00 and it happened all over again. He screamed, I tried to feed him, change him, play with him, wrap him, lay him down...nothing. He stayed awake until 5, and then Hannah woke us up at 6:30 for school. Ben cried until 8 and passed back out in my arms until 9. At 9:30 I took his temp and it was 102.2. I called the dr and got a 10:15 appt. Ben has a right ear infection and a red throat (could it be from all the screaming?) He is on amoxicillian and FINALLY sleeping in his bed for the last 30 minutes. I will never again smile to myself when I hear another mom suffering, because I have now felt the pain, oh the pain of not sleeping all week, 2 kids with ear infections, 1 faker, so she can miss school, 3 trips to the same dr office in 4 days, and 2 trips to the pharmacy.

Next week we will be the healthiest family out there, because all of us will be on antibiotics :)

Couch parenting

Couch Parenting? Well its when you are to sick to get off the couch and your husband must report to his new job and you are stuck all weekend with 3 kids. Its telling your 3 year old to stay out of the toilet and pleading with your 8 year old to feed her brother. Its also bribing your 8 year old with $5 to clean the house while the 2 little kids and you take a nap.

Thats how my weekend went. How was yours?

The Christmas flu

I was so excited for Christmas this year. With my mom gone, I was cooking christmas dinner. We had a turkey and all the fixings to go with it. Hannah was done being sick and so was Alanna. It was gonna be a great time. We have a tradition on Christmas Eve to go to my Dads and Stepmoms house and open presents with my older brother and my step sister and just have a great time. Well while we were opening presents, I started not to feel so well, so I hung out near the bathroom, and wouldn't you know, I ended the night early with the flu. We left right away, while hearing Hannah crying because we had to leave so early. I felt so bad for her and me in more ways than one, LOL. I came home and had one of the longest nights ever. I won't get to graphic, but this bug wanted EVERYTHING out of your system..and I mean everything. It was every hour on the hour, I could plan when it was coming next. I know that sounds aweful, but in my book, getting sick is #1 horrible so I HATE the flu. Anyways it lasted all night. I did wake up to see the girls open their presents and then went back to bed. Needless to say the holiday dinner was canceled. We have all this food, but I was in no mind to even look at it. I slept all day Christmas and finally got up around 4:00 to spend some time with the girls. They had tore into every present they got and was having a great time. Here I thought I had ruined their Christmas, but these to girls are the greatest. They had such a good time, hanging out in their PJS playing with their new toys. Chris was awesome too. He got the girls in their Christmas jammies when we got home, and helped Hannah write a letter to Santa...He even opened the fireplace doors for Santa to come in. He didn't cook the cinnamon rolls I bought for Christmas day, but the beagel and cereal the girls had was just as yummy. this Christmas wasn't really what we expected it to be, but the girls still had a great time and thats all we could have hoped for.

I'm still not feeling the greatest, but I had to work today, blah. Chris has the girls at an indoor water park near our home with a bunch of our friends and their kids. I'm sure the girls are loving every minute of it. I did manage to take some pictures Christmas day, so soon, I promise, they will be up to view. I didnot however get any pictures of the girls in their Christmas dresses...I am so upset.

Another nanny story

I feel all scattered, all over the place. My life the last couple of months has been so busy and stressful, I don't even know whats going on anymore. With the wedding, Nanny C's 2 week notice, finding a new nanny, being sick, and then having to find another new nanny.

Did you see that? Thats right, a nother new Nanny. This time its not as bad as you would think though. heres the story.

J (a friend of a friend, who I am starting to get to know really well) called about the ad. I hired her becasue I knew her and her family and I really liked her. So she started on Monday when I went back to work. Her oldest son (age 9) missed the bus and came over with her...no big deal. On Tuesday J called me and told me that Alanna was getting sick. I just had gotten to work. Not even logged on the system yet. Turn around and head home. Alanna gets it out of her system, I get it out of my system..then comes Wednesday. Around 10:00J calls and said that her son's school called and he is sick. Call everyone I know to come over, Chris ends up off work early and goes home to Alanna after working all night. I call my stepdad to see if he can be a back up on Thursday. J calls thursday morning at 7 and tells me she has been sick since 4 and cannot come over. Call stepdad and drop Alanna off to him and he says he will come to my germ infested house for Hannah when she gets off the bus.
I called J on Wednesday and asked her how she felt about the week so far. She siad that its been really hard on her because of her kids and my kids and sickness and her son missing the bus and everything else. So we discussed it and we don't want anything ruining our friendship and she has a lot going on with her kids. So we decided that it would be best if she didn't watch the girls anymore after this week and that I should find someone else. This was fine with me since I did interview a girl I really really liked. I called her and asked if she was still interested and she said yes....SO I have a new Nanny K starting on Monday. Still with me? She will come over on Saturday to hang out with us and the girls to get to know them a little so I don't just throw Alanna at her on Monday morning. Hopefully we have all the germs out of the hosue and will have a fresh start with Nanny K. Whew, I'm just tired thinking about it all again. Hopefully things will start to slow down or at least be a little less stressful.

SICK!

The other day I was reading a blog and her and her family had the flu. I thought to myself so happy that the computer is not catchy. Well I thought to soon. Sunday Hannah woke up at 6 in the morning with the flu. I thought we were free and clear when Monday she woke up and was healthy again and went to school. Again I thought to soon. I got a call just as I was getting to work today (about 45 minutes away from home) that Alanna was sick. I turn back around and go home (another 45 minute drive). Alanna was the exact same as Hannah. All the energy in the world, and only getting sick a couple of times in the morning and then a 3 hour nap and BAM, good to go and would keep food down. Again I thought all was good until after Alanna's nap I started. Oh the joy. Poor Chris was up all day yesterday and all night so he had to get some sleep. So I sat, wait made that laid on the couch with a bucket for me and Alanna. I love being a mom. I didn't get in my 3 hour nap but I'm hoping a good nights rest and we will all be go to go....Now we just have to wait for Chris to get it.
