I am thankful for being a SAHM. In the past we would stress over the kids being sick and who would stay home with them...Usually it ended up being me because Chris does not get paid if he doesn't work...I would usually take the point or the unpaid day and stay home with the kids..
Being home with the kids now I don't stress as much when they get sick or we are up half the night because they can't breath because they are stuffy.
Ben has a double eye infection and one stuffy cold. On top of teething. Poor baby. He is miserable right now. I sit and hold him and rock him to sleep. Not worrying that the house is dirty or what sort of trouble I will get into because I called off of work. I feel okay that he was up until 1:00 crying because he was so stuffy. I just take a nap with him, and I will clean the house tomorrow when he is feeling better. I now know how blessed and thankful I am that Chris is able to support our family and that I can be home with my babies. I am truly happy in my new job as a full time mom.
I know that staying home with the house and kids is not for everyone, but it was meant for me and I am so grateful that I can do this.

to make her happy
Last week, Hannah asked me to be her "special person" at school. The kids prepared songs to sing and then afterwards the school served us apple juice and donut holes. It was so special that she asked me, I was tickled and happy I could go. Just another perk of being a SAHM and being able to make my girl happy.

Cloth diapers 101
About a month ago I got this great idea to start cloth diapering Ben. I decided in the long run it would help save us money and its also good for the environment. I did a lot of research and decided on 12 bum genius diapers from cottonbabies. Just for starters. I plan on adding more to our stash soon. (I know there are a few pink in
there, I don't put them on Ben, but I have used them in Alanna because she still has accidents at night, and also IF Chris and I have another baby and its a girl, she needs some pink in her life) The website was very easy to use and I got my diapers just a few days later. I must admit, Ben looks adorable in all the bright colors. My fav so far is the bright orange. Its one of my new fav colors. My neighbor helped me make a wet bag, which is just the cutest thing in the ENTIRE world. Then I made a smaller bag for the diaper bag. This was my 1st sewing project I did all by myself. I am so proud.

I have some more craft projects in the works, but I can't post pics yet, because they are gifts and I can't spoil any more. So check back often to see what I've been up to. I also have a fuzzibunz review coming really soon. I just need a picture of Ben wearing them, LOL.
Here is the bigger wet bag. Its to hold the diapers we use at home. It hangs in my laundry room, and I just toss the diapers in there when we are done with them. When it gets full I wash the diapers. No smells and no fuss. Its super easy. When I was looking for wet bags on line I was finding them for $30 or more. I made this for less than $5 and that includes the zipper and the smaller bag for the diaper bag. It was clearance fabric and the inside liner was clearance too. The zipper was $3.00. In case you can't tell, the fabric is black with white puppy paws on it.
Here is the smaller bag. This is a drawstring bag. Very easy for the diaper bag.
And HERE is my 2nd sewing project. This I actually made on my own sewing machine. Ben loves to chew on tags. So I made a tag blanket. I found some cute ribbon at the fabric store and some coordinating fabric. Cut the ribbon the size I wanted and just sewed them together. VERY EASY. I got to customize it to my liking and I love it. Best of all I only bought a half yard of fabric and made 2 more "chewies" out of it. Total cost was $7 for all 3. The other 2 I'm giving away as gifts. So yes, if YOU are reading this is one of your gifts. BUT I won't be telling the rest:) I have to learn how to better control my stitches. They are still a little messy. So just know these are made with love and not experience :)

My head hurts
I'm so swamped over here. Alanna has an ear infection, Hannah is not being the happiest person in the world, and Ben is STILL teething. I have a cold and I just want to crawl in a dark hole for the rest of the week. On top of that I have a parent meeting Friday with preschool, and Hannah has a report due Monday and we are supposed to be going away this weekend, with the kids to a friends house....Oh is this week over yet????

Lunch Bunch-Halloween addition
Today Alanna, Ben and I went to a lunch bunch play date. The kids dressed up and we brought snacks for the kids to pass out. Since going to the first lunch bunch when Ben was 3 weeks old, I have been to 3 total..I really enjoy and look forward to these events now. I'm starting to get to know the other moms and Alanna loves playing with the other kids. Even the ladies that put on the lunch bunch are starting to remember us and coo all over Ben...Hes a natural (LOL).

Enjoyment
I'm still trying to adjust to being a SAHM to the girls. Yesterday marked the 1 week mark. It was one thing to have the weekends with them, but everyday is something new. There is really one word that comes to mind when trying to sum it up and thats enjoyment. I love waking up to Alanna crawling in bed with me and ever so gently rubbing my face to wake me as I used to do her in the mornings. I love the laziness of fixing breakfast when the girls get hungry, and the laziness of cleaning the house and not having to rush to get everything done in the 2 days I was allowed when off for the weekends..I love being here every moment and seeing what is going on in my children's life and not having to have their day recited back to me by the babysitter.
Sure times are rough and Hannah argues and Alanna has a meltdown, but the joy of it, is that its me here to handle the situation and not the babysitter calling me at work to handle Hannahs attitude problem or asking if Alanna can do something...Its me here to be the shoulder to cry on or to kiss the boo boos, its me their mother here to handle the day, and I think the girls are enjoying that...Actually I know they are. We have laughed and played and giggled and cuddled more in this past week, than I think we have in months, and its all back to the same 1 word enjoyment. I enjoy my kids, and I'm enjoying being a mom again...
There was a point where I couldn't wait to be not pregnant anymore, or I couldn't wait until winter got back around so I didn't have to sit outside and watch the girls play, because I was so tired all I could think about was sleeping or sitting and being lazy. Now, well now I love being pregnant and can't even tell you how many more days I have to go, now I get up early in the morning to take the girls to the park, now I am the one getting the girls motivated to go outside and have fun..Now I enjoy spending time with the them.

"You look Tired", she says
The strange thing about having pregnancy induced hypertension (high blood pressure) is that you feel normal, you look normal and if you didn't have your doctors constant nagging for you to take it easy, you would probably forget that you have an actual diagnosis. Well in my case, I forgot. An guess what I got for forgetting?
Friday I had my weekly dr visit. It started off normal. I did the weight thing (13lbs. and only 8 weeks to go, YAY me!) and the urine thing (it was normal) and the blood pressure thing (not so normal). I went into my room, got hooked up to the monitor (2 straps around my belly, one for the contractions, and one for the heart beat. Then every time the baby moves you click a button). No contractions (yet), and a good heat beat (thank god), and plenty of movement (yay).
About 20 minutes later my dr comes in and says right off the bat "You look tired". I do not take offense to this, because my dr has been my dr for almost 10 years, she was my mothers dr, several close friends dr, and their mothers dr, she has this sweet quality about her, that even when she states the obvious, shes so nice about it. I respond with a yes, I am tired...as I am thinking in my head you try having 2 kids, a full time job, a husband and being pregnant in 90 degree weather..You would look tired too. She looks at the info coming from the monitor and shakes her head. She then looks at me, and down to my ankles, and feet. Back up to me. She smiles and looks in the chart. The room is silent, which is odd for her office and I just stare at her facial expressions. Her eyebrows raise up and down, up and down. She looks back at me, back at my file. "So she says, Hannah is out of school for the summer?" "Yes, today was her last day." I reply. "Hmmmm", she replies. "How would you like to be home for the summer? I need you to take it easy", she says. "I would love to be home for the summer, what are you saying?" I'm saying, that I am requesting you on medical leave effective today, and you must promise to take it easy or you will end up on bed rest." I let the info soak in for a minute. This is getting serious..I still have 2 months, that's 8 weeks to go. I have joked I would love to be off for the summer, but never actually thought this early. I nod... I ask for a couple of days to work to tie of lose ends...She says only if I take it easy.
I leave her office in a daze, I'm nervous to be off of work this early and nervous for my baby, but excited to start this new adventure of being a stay at home mom, at least for the summer and a few months after that.

SAHM
Buy out papers were mailed to all union employees last Wednesday. After many long discussions with Chris and some family members, I think we are gonna take it. Actually we are gonna take it. Look out world, I'm finally getting my wish to be a SAHM. They haven't said when the last day of work will be, but I'm thinking towards the end of February.
Alanna had her hearing test today. Her hearing is perfect. Now they want to start her on speech therapy. After evaluating her she is at the age, speech wise of a 9 month old to 12 months...That puts her over a 12 month delay. Now that we know her hearing is perfect, its time for some early intervention. The doctor is going to get in touch with the school system and the hospital and they will come to our house for therapy. The doctor said usually is takes about a month to get things rolling..which is perfect timing for me to be home with her. If I was still working, who knows if we would be able to do the therapy for Alanna. I am only available on the weekends normally, so this is all good news.
With having plans to be home with the kids now, I cannot wait to add this new baby to the mix. I was so sad to think about leaving a 6 week old with the sitter...Now I don't have to worry about it.
I'm not a real religious person, but I prayed for an answer on what to do, and its clear that this is the way to go. I cannot wait to start the adventure!
